Permanent Resident Alien Eligibility for Financing
A permanent resident alien is a non-U.S. citizen who is legally authorized to reside and work in the United States on a permanent basis. These individuals are eligible for mortgage financing, provided they can present valid proof of lawful residency.
Acceptable Documentation Includes:
* A Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) with no expiration date
* A valid 10-year Permanent Resident Card that has not expired
* A valid 2-year Conditional Green Card, accompanied by USCIS Form I-751 (petition to remove conditions)
* An unexpired foreign passport with a valid I-551 stamp that states:
“Processed for I-551 Temporary Evidence of Lawful Admission for Permanent Residence. Valid until [mm-dd-yy]. Employment Authorized.”
